The largest markets for high-performance inertial sensors are primarily concentrated in three application areas: automotive, military/civilian use navigation, and seismic sensing. Due to the limited availability of specification-compliant sensors in these segments, price premiums for current high-performance sensors can range from 2X-100X over mass-market MEMS solutions, depending on the sensor performance required. The Low-performance and Tactical application segments are where we believe MET Tech can best establish a foothold in the larger market by offering superior performance over existing MEMS solutions, at a price that is competitive with MEMS. Due to the lead times involved, MET Tech expects to initially penetrate the seismic market. Military/civilian use navigation applications will come next, with the automotive segment following shortly thereafter.
